Effective and comprehensive college planning actually includes a group of processes, most of which benefit both student and parent:  Students want to learn and excel in the right environment.  Parents want their children to be happy and productive but not have their own "golden years" be destroyed financially in the process.

Education Funding Solutions manages the entire, multi-layered process so parents can avoid wasting time learning the minutiae of college planning and instead, spend quality time enjoying life with their children.

Our "standard" services - all of which are optional and can be accessed on an a la carte basis - include PSAT/SAT/ACT test prep/tutoring, career exploration/search, college major planning, college search, strategic application and student positioning.  Our philosophy is that each student is an individual and deserves an individual approach.  Clearly, the 4.0, 1550 SAT student who has always wanted to be a thoracic surgeon has a different set of needs, and perhaps skills, than the 3.0, 1030 SAT student who  - like lots and lots of 16 or 17 year-olds - doesn't really "know what she wants to be when she grows up."  Our services, and our pricing models, accommodate this individuality.

Two areas in which we separate ourselves from other firms is Test Prep and Student Positioning

Recent research suggest that for the vast majority of students, test score increases resulting from intense tutoring are far more modest that the tutoring companies have claimed for many years.  Our view is that, for most kids, SAT test prep/tutoring ought thus to be inexpensive since, from most kids, it will not be outstandingly effective.  For most students, our online test prep and tutoring will provide score gains at minimal cost.  Some students on the other hand, can benefit significantly from tutoring and for them, we offer a more "hands-on" model but at a moderate price.

Most families do not understand the concept of Student Positioning.  What Student Positioning is NOT is making application to "two stretch schools, four moderates and two safeties."  Student Positioning is helping a family understand which colleges will not only accept the student but which ones will, in addition, offer significant gift-aid (free money) awards.  In other words, everyone knows Harvard is a pretty good college but they award NO non-athletic, merit-aid money (they do award gift-aid for families with "financial need").  For some families, having their student attend Harvard at any price is worth it; unfortunately, for some of these well-healed families, Harvard might not be the "right" college for their child.  For lots of families however, getting accepted at Harvard is meaningless if the financial aid shortfall at Harvard is $40,000 per year.  Our Student Positioning service makes use of an enormous database of historical merit-aid award data to help families devise a list of colleges appropriate for their student AND attainable on the family's budget  Obtaining A college degree is highly valuable; jeopardizing Mom & Dad's future to get THE college degree is never worth it.  Our mission is to help your child succeed at life, not just succeed at "getting in."
